Ever wondered what conditions of entry vendors are required to meet for participation in the sale? Here are the key details
BULL SELECTION AND PREPARATION
Age and weight requirements. No entry to bulls younger than 18 months, No older than 36 Months. Preference is for a 24-month-old bull at 850-900kg. Failure to meet weight specifications at sale (over or under) may result in a reduction of allocation in the subsequent year.
All Bulls to be Registered Simmental (Australian or American Breed Associations) 8/8- no composites.
No hoof trimming and Vet check (BBSE) to indicate no evidence of same. Cutting hair from ears, under pizzle, bottom of tail and spikes on top of tail set with scissors preferred presentation of sale bulls. No coat clipping (head and neck clipping ok)
Mandatory (Minimum) Vaccinations. 3-Germ (blooded), vibrio, 3- Day, 7-1, Botulism and Bulls tested Pesti-Virus Free. It is suggested that the entire vaccination program is completed prior to any bulls being backgrounded/ finished in Queensland.
In no instances will a bull previously entered in another sale (or advertised for sale privately) be eligible for entry to this sale
All bulls must vet checked, DNA verified to sire, mouthed, morphology tested EMA, IMF, P8, Rib and Scrotal Circumference measured.
Eye pigmentation/ colouring. It is difficult to stabilise this attribute in a Simmental but the sale and buyer preference is for this attribute to suit the target markets requirement.
Feeding and preparation. Vendors are acknowledged and infact commended for not overfeeding bulls in previous sales. The ideal preparation for a bull is to be in sale condition prior to capture of photos for the catalogue and video capture for digital marketing. Desired sale weights are:
18- 20 months | 750-800 kgs |
20-22 months | 800-850kg |
22- 24 months | 850-950 kg |
24- onwards | 900->plus |
· The sale does not wish any bulls to weigh over 1000kg regardless of the age. Bulls over this weight may result in reduced nominations in the future. | |
Future increases/ decreases to individual bull numbers will be based on:
Performance in the sale (clearance rate and average sale price)
The ability of the sale to increase volume in subsequent years;
TYPE OF SALE
The sale operates as an “invitational sale” meaning that the Sale sets the terms and conditions for the sale, requirements for vendors participating in the sale and ultimately vendor participation in the sale.
MARKETING AND PROMOTION OF BULLS AND PRESENTATION AT POINT OF SALE
All vendors will provide content for the sales catalogue, online selling platforms and other channels (including scanning data) by the specified date and in the format requested. If information it is not received by the due date- it won’t be included.
Images of lots. Not all lots will have images included in the catalogue (though there is a preference for as many images as possible)
Printed (laminated) vet check to be displayed on sale pen for each lot. Printed (laminated) scanning results to be displayed on at least one sale pen for all animals. The standard QSBS Shed Card is to be used for all sale lots.
No bedding hay in sale pens on sale day.
Weight of bull to be checked and recorded on site at CQLX. Individual vendors are responsible for performing this task in the three days preceding the sale. Any costs in weighing are the individual vendors responsibility. Weights recorded at CQLX will need to be verified with another participating stud in the sale. Weights will then be recorded on shed cards the day prior to sale. Indicative weights can be used in advance. *Vendors must use discretion to ensure previously communicated weights do not vary drastically from the final weight recorded immediately prior to sale.
COSTS AND OTHER
Vendors are responsible for meeting all requirements of the selling facility (in using the selling facility) and have their own up to date insurance. Pharos Investments trading as the Queensland Simmental Bull Sale is not responsible for any injuries/ damages to either the facility, vendors, animals, potential buyers or other individuals at the sales location.
Guarantee. Individual studs are responsible for guaranteeing bulls for 12 months post sale date to buyers. A replacement bull of up to same cost (or rebate for future purchases) is to be provided to the buyer and negotiated separately from the sale. Sale terms and conditions to buyers make this subsequent to a veterinarian report (Vet to be mutually agreed by Purchaser and Vendor) and also to consider disposal price of animal.
The QSBS does not provide the guarantee to purchasers- vendors do. This is standard industry practice.
It is anticipated the upset price will be $5,000 however this will be reviewed and discussed prior to auction – no bulls for sale out of ring for less than the upset.
