about Barana Simmentals

Barana has a stud herd including 220 registered & unregistered purebred Simmental females. At Barana great importance is placed on breeding for ease of calving, milk production & fertility and females must be able to rear a calf under natural conditions. Barana has endeavoured to breed bulls that produce steers that are quick growing with good carcase characteristics and the ability to finish.

At Barana stud sires are selected with a medium frame, soft, thick & well-muscled with plenty of capacity & a silky, fine, slick coat. Good feet, a strong muzzle & a sirey head are also very important attributes. Over the past 20 years breeding has also concentrated on poll genetics in the herd.

Barana has sold numerous bulls into every mainland state in Australia over the past four decades with many sold into Queensland. Barana bulls are suited to all Australian conditions with particular emphasis on meeting the requirements of northern cattle breeders.
