Lone Station Simmental Bulls are known for a clean coat type, consistency in growth, structural correctness, sound feet and being bred in heavy tick country. Lone Station Simmental females have been carefully selected for calving ease, fertility, growth rate of progeny, clean coat type and eye colouring/pigmentation.

A key approach at Lone Station is “Quality” not “Quantity” and it always will be.

2019 saw access to a sales outlet withdrawn and severe drought, bull sales were placed on hold until a new selling outlet was obtained. Fast forward to the Queensland Simmental Bull Sale and Lone Station Simmental calves are even more consistent, core breeding females have demonstrated their worth through drought, fire and floods and more performance data has informed the genetic program.

Location and Environment

Lone Station Bulls are bred at Biarra (Brisbane Valley) in extremely hilly scrub country with temperatures regularly exceeding 40 degrees in Summer and often less than zero degrees in winter. Being in the hills and in close proximity to the coast humidity is terrible during the summer season which makes life tough for both cattle and grazier alike. Cattle are exposed to a heavy tick and buffalo fly load where lantana is a continual problem as are feral pigs, deer, dingoes and unreliable rainfall.

Today’s Lone Station females have been carefully selected for calving ease, fertility, growth rate of progeny, clean coat type and eye colouring/pigmentation.

Lone Station Simmental Bulls are working today in Commercial herds all across Queensland at locations including Banana, Marlborough, Moura, Sarina, Nebo, Theodore, Charters Towers, Clermont, Alpha and more.

Lone Station Simmental Stud has sold stud sires to numerous Queensland Simmental Studs (including two of the oldest established) and registered females into another Queensland stud-based operation. In 2020 Lone Station sold a Stud Sire to a Queensland based Simmental Stud with other bulls going into High Bos Indicus content herds at Rockhampton, Clermont, Springsure and Gympie. Lone Station Bulls are highly desired by commercial operators from “tick country” and 2020 saw Lone Station unable to meet demand from existing clients (not enough bulls were available and the bulls offered online went in 7-days).

Although not big in scale Lone Station Simmental Stud is big on performance.
