In 2017 a number of Simmental Breeders saw the need for one Simmental Bull sale based close to the Fitzoy Basin in Queensland. Fast forward to October 2020 and the largest Simmental Bull Sale in Australia is officially launched with the Queensland Simmental Bull Sale scheduled for Spring 2021 at the CQLX Sales Complex in Gracemere, Queensland, Australia.
This location (CQLX Selling Complex Gracemere) was selected as vendors agreed that the location was closest to the primary market for Traditional Simmentals both now and into the future.
Although it is only the very beginning for the sale this decision seems justified given the volume and sale prices achieved in Central Queensland in the 2020 Spring bull selling season for the Simmental Breed.
As evidenced on the website the entry terms and conditions for the sale are extremely tight and this is deliberate to ensure that the quality of bulls is extremely high. These terms and conditions have been informed by input from commercial cattle producers and participating studs.
The sale would like to thank all commercial cattle producers who have been involved in the initial industry consultation about the sale. At the same time the second round of industry consultation is on track (for release after website launch) and vendors eagerly anticipate receiving results from Queensland Cattle Producers on the breed to inform future breeding objectives for Simmental.
A number of initiatives will be launched over the coming months to inform cattle producers about the sale supported by a website and social media displaying up to date QSBS news and events.
